What to Read?

Books Finding that perfect book can be difficult, but these resources can help.  Click on the links below for suggestions and quality listings of bestsellers, award winners, and the best of your favorite genres. 
  • about:books: Use this resource to search the Web for information on your favorite books, authors, and genres.  This tool goes much deeper than your average Google search and is completely devoted to books or anything book-related.      
  • BookLetters: Find out about the latest releases, books on TV, and award winners by using this resource paid for by your library and linked directly to the library's catalog.  Be sure to sign up for the very convenient automatic e-mail alerts to have these suggestions sent directly to your e-mail on a regular basis.
  • Fiction_L Booklists: Locate listings of books pertaining to a variety of genres and topics submitted by librarians from across the country.
  • LibraryThing: This site connects you to a vibrant online community of readers who share their reading lists and reviews.
  • NoveList: Excellent resource for finding that next book in your favorite series, book discussion guides, author information, and other reading suggestions.  A library card number is needed to access this resource outside the library.
  • What's Next? Books in Series: Provided by Kent District Library (MI), this resource can also help you find that next book in your favorite series.
  • WhichBook.net: Check out selections of books based on various moods and emotions.  Set the appropriate moods and away you go!

  • NoveList K-8: NoveList for a younger audience.
  • BookHive: Use the "Find a Book" feature to locate book suggestions for children through grade 6.
